Chino Hills’ reputation is known in the national arena as well, the City of Chino Hills has been ranked #34 on Money magazine’s 2012 list of the “100 Best Places to Live.”  According to the CNN/Money website, the list includes “the top 100 terrific cities that offer what American families care about most -  strong job opportunities, great schools, low crime, quality health care, plenty to do, and a true sense of community.” Cities with a population between 50,000 and 300,000 were considered. Chino Hills appeared on the list before -- in 2005 with a ranking of #68.

  • 100 Best Communities For Young People 2 Years in a Row

America’s Promise Alliance announced that Chino Hills was named as one of the “100 Best Communities for Young People” for 2012. Thanks to great partnerships and the hard work of many agencies and individuals who make a difference in the lives of young people, this is the second year Chino Hills made the list. The national award recognized our community for providing outstanding and innovative services and programs that make Chino Hills an outstanding place for youth to live, learn and grow. 

  • Ranked 17th Safest Place to Live in the United States

Not only is Chino Hills a place where people want to live, it’s also a safe City in which to live. Based on June 2012 FBI statistics, Chino Hills was ranked as the 17th Safest City in the United States


Location

The city of Riverside is located 55 miles east of Los Angeles. It is less than 40 minutes from one of the major Chinese communities in the area of Walnut/Diamond Bar/Rowland Heights. The other major Chinese community of Alhambar/Moneterey Park/Arcadia is less than 50 minutes away.

Education in Chino Hills


The Chino Valley Unified School District schools lead the County in API results.  There are 10 elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools in the City of Chino Hills.  The District's goal of "Increasing Academic Rigor" has paid off, as evidenced by the following accomplishments:

  • Seven Chino Hills elementary schools have scored above 900 in API for 2011

  • Three Chino Hills elementary schools and both middle schools have scored above 800 in API for 2011

  • Both Chino Hills high schools have scored above 800 in API for 2011

  • Country Springs Elementary School was designated as a Blue Ribbon School in 2007

  • Four Chino Hills elementary schools and one middle school have been designated as a California Distinguished School

Recreation

Recreation is a priority in Chino Hills and Big League Dreams Chino Hills Sports Park is definitely a recreation destination! This 33-acre multi-use sports facility attracts tournaments, visitors, and new commercial ventures to Chino Hills. Chino Hills is also home to the McCoy Equestrian & Recreation Center. This beautiful 20-acre facility includes two lighted arenas, covered bleachers, a gazebo, a community building, and trail connections.  The McCoy residence has been transformed into a beautiful community facility that is perfect for receptions and small parties.

Chino Hills State Park, a premier natural open-space area in the hills of Santa Ana Canyon near Riverside, is a critical link in the Puente-Chino Hills biological corridor. It encompasses stands of oaks, sycamores and rolling, grassy hills that stretch nearly 31 miles, from the Santa Ana Mountains to the Whittier Hills. 

Chino Hills State Park is a great place to visit where you can escape the pressures of urban life and find peace and solitude in a natural setting. Visitors can camp for a few days or simply enjoy a walk, horseback or bicycle ride over trails that meander through valleys and along ridge tops through woodlands, sage scrub, and grasslands. Sixty miles of trails and fire roads also offer excellent opportunities for viewing wildlife and native plants. Facilities consist of a picnic area, equestrian staging area, pipe corrals, a historic barn, water spigots and restrooms.

  • McCoy Equestrian & Recreation Center

The Frank B. and Helen McCoy Equestrian & Recreation Center is a 20-acre facility that Helen McCoy generously donated to the City in 1997 to preserve the equestrian and rural heritage of the community. 
         
The McCoys were well-known throughout the world for their famous Arabian horse breeding program. The property now features amenities that are perfect for horse shows and other types of livestock events, weddings, banquets, parties, and more. There are over 3,000 acres of open space and 37 miles of trails available for use and enjoyment. The City of Chino Hills also borders Chino Hills State Park, which offers access to an additional 16,000 acres of open space.  The Cities multi-use trail system is available to walkers, hikers, runners, bicyclists, and equestrians.

Harkins Movie Theatre is located at 3070 Chino Avenue, in Chino Hills.  The theater has 18 screens, stadium seating, spacious rows with plenty of leg room and comfortable high-back lounge seats.  

Conveniently located in the Crossroads Entertainment Center, off of CA 71 freeway at the Chino Avenue exit.  Located in the same center is Buffalo Wild Wings, Starbuck's, Hampton Inn and Suites, and several other small dining establishments and a gas station.

 Bowling Center

 The Chapparal 300 Bowling Center opened it's doors in December 2011.  The new state of the art bowling center has 34 lanes, full sports bar, pool tables, shuffle board tables, darts, arcade, a mechanical bull, and snack bar.

The Shoppes at Chino Hills has quickly become the Inland Empire's premier destination for shopping and dining with more than 70 tenants such as H & M, XXI Forever, Banana Republic, Victoria’s Secret, Trader Joe’s, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Chipotle Mexican Grill, California Pizza Kitchen, Yard House Bar & Grill, Pinkberry, Barnes & Noble Booksellers and Bath & Body Works, among others. 

Located at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Peyton Drive off the 71 Freeway, The Shoppes at Chino Hills features more than 375,000 square feet of retail and restaurants in an open-air, main street-style pedestrian setting. Free Wi-Fi is featured in the Promenade area between the fountain and Barnes & Noble.
